Position Summary

The Assembler puts together manufactured parts and components by following work orders and job instructions. Most jobs involve light assembly, but some assemblies are larger and may require additional handling or lifting equipment. This position makes sure each assembly is put together correctly, safely, and on time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Put together parts and components by following work orders, travelers, drawings, and job instructions.

• Make sure the correct parts, hardware, and quantities are being used for each assembly.

• Use hand tools, small power tools, fixtures, and other assembly equipment safely.

• Install fasteners, fittings, brackets, clips, seals, labels, or other components as required.

• Line up, fit, and secure parts in the correct position and order.

• Complete both light assembly work and larger assemblies as assigned.

• Use carts, hoists, cranes, or other lifting equipment for larger parts when trained and authorized.

• Check the first completed assembly before continuing the job.

• Measure or inspect parts and completed assemblies using gauges, calipers, tape measures, or other tools when required.

• Continue checking assemblies during the job to make sure the work meets quality requirements.

• Test moving parts, connections, fit, or basic operation when the job instructions require it.

• Watch for missing parts, damaged components, incorrect hardware, poor fit, or other assembly problems.

• Count, identify, label, and stage completed assemblies for the next operation or shipping.

• Stop and ask for help when instructions are unclear, parts do not fit correctly, or the completed assembly does not meet requirements.

• Complete production paperwork and report labor, completed assemblies, downtime, and scrap correctly.

• Meet the company's production and quality expectations.

• Keep tools, fixtures, parts, and the surrounding work area clean and organized.

• Complete basic equipment checks and routine maintenance as needed.

• Follow all company safety rules and wear the required personal protective equipment.

• Help in other production areas when needed.

• Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Previous assembly or manufacturing experience is preferred.

• Ability to read and follow work orders, travelers, drawings, and job instructions.

• Ability to safely use hand tools and small power tools.

• Basic math and measurement skills.

• Ability to identify and keep track of different parts, hardware, and quantities.

• Ability to notice missing parts, poor fit, damage, or other assembly problems.

• Good hand coordination and the ability to complete detailed, repetitive work.

• Ability to work independently and communicate with supervisors, Quality, and other employees.

• Dependable, safety-minded, and able to pay close attention to details.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

• Previous assembly or manufacturing experience is preferred.

• Related training or work experience may also be considered.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift.

• Ability to regularly bend, reach, twist, push, pull, and handle parts and assemblies.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.

• Ability to safely handle metal parts that may have sharp edges.

• Ability to use hands for grasping, fastening, positioning, and other assembly work throughout the shift.

• Ability to inspect parts and completed assemblies and safely use tools and equipment.

• This position works in a manufacturing environment around hand tools, power tools, moving equipment, noise, metal parts, oils, sharp edges, and changing temperatures. Wear required personal protective equipment in designated areas.
